Gail Berman

Gail Berman (born August 17, 1956 ) is an American television producer and former president of the entertainment division of Fox Broadcasting Company and the former president of Paramount Pictures .

Life

Berman graduated from the University of Maryland in 1978 . With a college friend, Susan Rose, she co-produced the Broadway play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1982 . In the same year the co-production of Almost an Eagle followed , the drama Hurlyburly in 1984 , Blood Knot in 1985 and The Nerd in 1987 .

Berman later turned to television production and was executive producer on several series on the FOX network such as Malcolm in the middle , Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel . In 2001 she was named President of the Fox Broadcasting Company. In this position she brought successful series such as 24 and American Idol onto television programs. However, Berman also had to answer for a few flops, such as Keen Eddie or Firefly - Der Aufbruch der Serenity , which were canceled after just a few episodes. Berman stayed with FOX until May 2005, when she moved to Paramount Pictures where she held the position of President. In January 2007, Berman left Paramount Pictures and founded her own production company BermanBraun with Lloyd Braun . In March 2007, Berman signed a first-look deal with NBC Universal Television for the development of new TV formats.

Berman is married to screenwriter Bill Masters and has two children.
