Bravo is an American cable TV station operated by NBCUniversal that went on the air in December 1980. A total of 88 million households can receive the station. While Bravo was still a broadcaster in the 1980s and 1990s that mainly showed art, drama and independent films , from the new millennium onwards it became a youth-focused broadcaster with reality shows, boulevard programs, styling shows, etc. However, films are still shown today, in addition to repetitions of the parent broadcaster NBC, Bravo also produces its own programs, such as The Real Housewives of ... or Inside the Actors Studio, shown here without make-up on 3sat .

Bravo went on the air as an ad-free pay TV channel on December 1, 1980 and was owned by Cablevision at the time. At the time, the broadcaster saw itself as the first broadcaster to specialize in films and performing arts. In 1981 Bravo had 48,000 subscribers, four years later over 350,000. Bravo only showed older films as well as independent films and films from abroad. The program Jazz Counterpoint was responsible for the performing arts . Bravo mid-1980 was demonstrated to a normal cable channels and from 1998 advertising block . In 1999 MGM bought the station, from 2002 the station belonged to NBCUniversal. Bravo's transformation into a youth broadcaster began in 2003, when Queer Guy showed 3.5 million people were watching. The program now largely consists of reality shows. Bravo is the most recognizable brand among homosexuals , according to a study . The target group of Bravo is limited to 18–54 year olds.
