Fairly Legal is an American justice television series with Sarah Shahi and Michael Trucco in the lead roles, conceived by Michael Sardo. It is about a former lawyer who has preferred to work as a mediator for some time in order to be able to achieve more justice in legal disputes.
The series was first broadcast on January 20, 2011 on the US cable station USA Network . After a total of two seasons, the series was canceled on November 1, 2012. In German-speaking countries, the series was broadcast for the first time on the VOX channel from September 11, 2013 to March 5, 2014 as a free TV premiere.
action
The focus is on the formerly successful lawyer Kate Reed from San Francisco, who has left her father's office for several years to work as a mediator. With the death of her father, she now has to deal with her stepmother, who is about her own age, in order to save his legacy, the company, from ruin. Her professional and personal problems mix when she has to negotiate with the prosecutor Justin Patrick as the two are in the process of getting a divorce.
characters
main characters
- Kate Reed
- Born into a family of lawyers, Kate also studied law and worked for her father's law firm. But the many bureaucratic hurdles and indomitable legal texts are, in her opinion, often the obstacle to fair legal judgments, so she is now trying to reach more satisfactory agreements as an arbitrator outside the courtroom. Due to the death of her father, she now has to work more in the company again and deal with her stepmother, the partner in the firm.
- Justin Patrick
- Assistant Attorney Justin Patrick is still Kate's husband, but the divorce has already been filed. They also differ in their professional views, as he does not share Kate's criticism of the legal system and cannot accept her disregard of the law.
- Lauren Reed
- Lauren Reed was the second wife of Kate's father and thus, despite the small age difference to Kate, her stepmother. Since the death of her husband she has taken over the management of the family law firm and tries to continue the company successfully despite the disputes.
- Leonardo "Leo" Prince
- Leo is Kate's loyal assistant. His good contacts and unorthodox methods of getting information are particularly helpful. In his private life, he uses every minute to live out his passion for fantasy online games .
Minor characters
- Spencer Reed
- Spencer is Kate's older brother and also worked in the family law firm. He is currently taking a break and taking care of the children and the household for the benefit of his wife's career.
- Judge David Nicastro
- Judge Nicastro has a great dislike of Kate's unconventional approach, yet he sometimes summons her to arbitrate out of court in some cases.
Cast and dubbing
The dubbing company EuroSync GmbH in Berlin was commissioned for the German dubbing . The dialogue director led Heike Kopach.
