Richard Dean Anderson (born January 23, 1950 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American actor and television producer .
Life
Richard Dean Anderson is the eldest of four sons of Stuart Jay Anderson and Jocelyn Rhae Carter. He is of Scottish, Swedish-Norwegian and Finnish Swedish descent. Anderson grew up in Roseville, Minnesota and attended Roseville Area High School . His childhood dream of becoming a professional ice hockey player ended when he broke both arms. For a short time he tried to become a jazz musician.
Anderson's acting career began with the role of Dr. Jeff Webber in the soap opera General Hospital (1976-1981). He made his breakthrough with the television series MacGyver (1985 to 1992), in which he played as Angus MacGyver for seven seasons an imaginative agent of the Phoenix Foundation who, with the help of Swiss Army Knives , chewing gum , tape , chocolate and other everyday aids can manufacture anything to accomplish his orders.
After the great success of MacGyver, Anderson founded the production company Gekko Film Corporation with Michael Greenburg, based in Burnaby , Canada. This company produced two MacGyver films and was involved in the production of the series Stargate - Kommando SG-1 with MGM and Double Secret Productions .
From 1997 to early 2005, Anderson played one of the main characters, Colonel Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill, in the science fiction series Stargate - Kommando SG-1 , which appeared on the film Stargate by Roland Emmerich (with Kurt Russell as Colonel Jonathan " Jack “O'Neil ) is based. In the eighth season he reduced - now as Brigadier General Jack O'Neill , who took command of General Hammond, played by Don S. Davis - his appearances. In the ninth season, he left the series to have more time for his family. However, he had some guest appearances as General O'Neill (who now works at the Pentagon) and continued to work as a producer in the other seasons of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis (especially in seasons 1 and 3 respectively) and Stargate Universe .
For his role as actor and executive producer of the Stargate SG-1 series and the positive portrayal of the United States Air Force , Anderson was honored with an honor and an honorary Brigadier General at the 57th Air Force Anniversary Dinner in Washington, DC on September 14, 2004 appointed. Richard Dean Anderson has been dubbed by various voice actors throughout his career. For a long time Michael Christian acted as his standard dubbing voice in the TV series MacGyver, among others. In 1986 Anderson was voiced by Helmut Gauß in the film Lost Heroes , in 1992 in With the Eyes of a Murderer by Joachim Pukaß and in 2006 in the Simpsons episode Kiss, Kiss Bang Bangalore by Matthias Klie . After Michael Christian's death in 2006, Paramount hired Erich Räuker to dub some MacGyver episodes in the course of the DVD release. Räuker already spoke Anderson in the US TV series Stargate - Kommando SG-1 (1997 to 2007) and its spin-off Stargate Atlantis (2004) as Colonel and General Jack O'Neill. Most recently, Räuker took on the role in Stargate: Continuum (2008), Stargate SG-1: The Gate to the Universe - Final Cut (2009) and Stargate Universe (2009). Räuker can be heard again as Richard Dean Anderson for a new edition of MacGyver as part of a Mercedes advertisement.
