Michael Christian (born May 9, 1947 in Lubmin ; † June 12, 2006 in Berlin ) was a German actor and voice actor .

biography

Christian was born as the son of the actor couple Norbert Christian and Christine Hackenthal in Lubmin on the Baltic Sea . After graduating from school, he attended the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin from 1964 to 1967 . There he received classical acting training, which in addition to speaking lessons also included fencing. In 1967 he got his first stage engagement in Weimar (until 1973). His other stage positions include Gera (1974), Schwerin ( Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin , 1975), Rostock ( Rostock Volkstheater , 1975–1981) and West Berlin ( Vaganten Bühne , 1986–1989).

Since the early 1970s he has increasingly taken on roles in film and television productions. His most famous GDR productions include Kurt Jung-Alsen's war drama The Secret of Oedipus , Konrad Wolf's drama Solo Sunny and several films from the crime series Polizeiruf 110 .

In the Federal Republic of Germany , Christian became a busy voice actor and lent his voice a. a. Rowan Atkinson ( Hot Shots! The Second Attempt ), Nicolas Cage ( Leaving Las Vegas ), Jonathan Frakes ( Torches in the Storm as well as in the third season of the mystery series X-Factor: The Unbelievable ), Steve Guttenberg ( Home Team - An accurate team ) , Mandy Patinkin ( Chicago Hope ) and Pui Pui ( Dragonball Z ). He was also heard in the Disney- produced series Power Rangers Dino Thunder as the spokesman for the antagonist Zeltrax. His voice became known to a wide audience especially through the synchronization of Richard Dean Anderson in the role of MacGyver in the adventure series of the same name.

At the turn of the millennium, Christian turned increasingly to film and television work again. He played in the Japanese production Richard Sorge - The Spy of the Century , Hans Weingartner's cinema production The fat years are over , as well as the Tatort Teufelskreis and made guest appearances in numerous television series such as Behind Gittern - Der Frauenknast , Wolffs Revier , Edel & Starck and Gute Zeiten , bad times .

He played the role of the unknown Mr. Paravicini over 100 times at the Berlin Criminal Theater in Agatha Christie's crime classic Die Mausefalle .

Michael Christian, who in addition to his acting work was also a passionate sculptor and painter, died on June 12, 2006 at the age of 59 of cancer .
