life and work

Kurt Jung-Alsen is the son of the theater maker Paul Eger and the singer Herta Alsen.

His best-known film is Deceived until Judgment Day (1957), which dealt with the internal constitution of Wehrmacht soldiers. The film is also interesting because, at the instigation of the Federal Republic of Germany, which insisted on its claim to sole representation for Germany, it was not allowed to run in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

In addition, Jung-Alsen appeared as an actor every now and then, for example in the movie My Hour Zero alongside Manfred Krug or in the police call episode Burned Track . In 1973 he was awarded the Heinrich Greif Prize .

Kurt Jung-Alsen died during the shooting of the film in the series "Polizeiruf 110" tired of being alone , which was then ended by Helmut Krätzig .
