Iris Gusner
Iris Gusner (born January 16, 1941 in Trautenau ) is a German film director and screenwriter .
Life
Gusner grew up in Gleiwitz and came to Leipzig from Upper Silesia in 1945 . In Markkleeberg she attended school and high school. After graduating from high school in 1959, she completed a one-year preliminary internship as a sorter at the wood processing plant in Wiederitzsch .
She passed the entrance examination for directing at the Academy of Film Arts and was sent to Moscow for further training in the fall of 1960. From 1961 to 1967 she studied at the State All Union Institute for Cinematography (WGIK), among others with Michail Romm , and made her short film diploma with the film The Insurance Agent.
From 1970 she worked at DEFA in Berlin , initially as assistant director for Konrad Wolf's film Goya - or the arge path of knowledge . Her first film Die Taube auf dem Dach (1973) was not released for showing in the GDR; the film material was destroyed in the studio - all that remained was a working copy, which was used as the basis for a reconstruction of the film in 2010. This was followed in 1976 by the fairy tale film The Blue Light after the Brothers Grimm . All my girls (1980), a group portrait of women workers in a light bulb factory, was her most successful film. In 1980 she received the collective art prize of the FDGB and the big winner of the audience jury at the National Feature Film Festival in Karl-Marx-Stadt.
In the summer of 1989, a few months before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Iris Gusner left the GDR. She moved to Cologne, continued to write screenplays and made television films in Germany, which has since been reunified. In 2009 she published a “biographical dialogue” with Helke Sander under the title Fantasy and Work .
Iris Gusner lives in Berlin. Her older daughter, the actress Amina Gusner , took on her first film role in Kaskade zurück . Her second daughter, Inken Gusner, became a costume designer.
