action

Ralf Päschke is a directing student at the film school and is shooting a documentary about a brigade at the NARVA plant in Berlin . The brigade, which is considered exemplary, consists only of young women under the leadership of Master Boltzin with 30 years of service. Ralf soon realizes that various conflicts are smoldering behind the perfect facade. There is the young Kerstin, which is suppressed mainly by union shop steward Anita - Kerstin, unlike all the other her Abitur stored, is because of theft convictions and therefore only on probation in the brigade. Anita has just been left by her boyfriend, Susi is rebellious and always unpunctual and Ella is having an affair with a married man.

The conflicts break out when the five young women Ella, Susi, Anita, Kerstin and Gertrud learn from Ralf in front of the camera that their brigade is to be separated for six months due to the construction of a new production line. Master feels duped, she had only recently experienced this herself and spoke out against it. The young women, on the other hand, believe that they have been deceived and accuse their master of incompetence. She, in turn, pulls out a booklet in which she has entered all the women's work misconduct: days off, hours absent, minutes absent. The situation escalates and Ms. Boltzin leaves her workplace without a word - Kerstin prevents Ralf's last episode from being filmed. When the young women want to visit their master at home, she refuses to meet. A short time later, Ms. Boltzin is admitted to a sanatorium after a nervous breakdown .

The five women visit them, spend the night in a restaurant not far from the sanatorium and get to know Ms. Boltzin's alcoholic friend on the one hand, and Ralf on the other, who joins them without a camera and who soon meets with Kerstin.

Back at the factory, bonuses are paid out, 30 marks. Kerstin, who is not a member of the brigade, only receives half the bonus of the others, which creates tension. When Kerstin announced that she wanted to put her money into the solo account anyway, the others followed suit. The next day, the 65 marks that were collected in this way disappeared and Kerstin is suspected of theft. Anita asks her to return the money by the next day. In fact, the next day there is an envelope with 65 marks on the table and Anita also finds the money believed to be stolen and is entered. Kerstin quits her job at NARVA and wants to move in with Ralf, who, however, only offers her a temporary place to stay. When he jokes that Kerstin actually stole the money, she leaves him immediately.

Mrs. Boltzin returns to work. Instead of Kerstin, a "new one" comes to the brigade. In the end, all women watch Ralfs' film and find that it always depicts life in a way that is far too idealized.
