Baldur Boehme

Baldur Edelbert Böhme (born February 7, 1932 in Weimar ; † April 12, 2008 in Weimar ) was a German composer , professor of violin and conductor . His oeuvre includes instrumental music , works for musical theater and song & choir , as well as compositions for film.

Life

From birth, Baldur Boehme's life was shaped by music. He received his first instrumental lessons from his parents Fritz Böhme (student at the Weimar Music Academy) and Elsbeth Böhme - both music teachers. His father also looked after his first attempts at composing (piano pieces). He completed his violin studies with the Fritz Ehlers, Robert Reitz and Walter Hansmann.

Baldur Böhme committed himself to orchestral service as early as 1952. He worked for several years as first violinist and concertmaster at the Erfurt Municipal Theaters, in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and in the Staatskapelle Berlin , Staatsoper Unter den Linden . Since 1966 he has been teaching the violin; In 1976 he became a lecturer, then professor at the "Franz Liszt" Music Academy in Weimar (em. 1999).

With the “Schumann Trio” (Martin Högner, piano and Brunhard Böhme, violoncello), he performed extensive concert activities in addition to teaching. As a conductor, he led the orchestra of the Belvedere high school (1983 and 1984) and at times the chamber orchestra of the Liszt School of Music Weimar .
