Monica Bielenstein
Monica Bielenstein (* 1948 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a German actress , dubbing actress and dubbing director .
Life
Monica Bielenstein was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where her parents emigrated in 1935 because of National Socialism . After graduating from high school, which she passed in Switzerland , she attended the "Ernst Busch" Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin in the GDR , where her father was active in the diplomatic service at the time. As a stage actress, she received engagements at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater and at the Theater der Freund in Berlin.
She has also appeared in several DEFA films, including Gunshots under the Gallows , Horst Seemann's adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's David Balfour , and, directed by Celino Bleiweiß, in From the Life of a Good- for- nothing by Joseph von Eichendorff .
In 1980 Monica Bielenstein moved to the Federal Republic. There, her artistic focus shifted from stage and film work more and more to work as a television actress and voice actress . She took on guest roles in television series such as Praxis Bülowbogen , Wolffs Revier , AS and At Your Own Risk .
As a voice actress she has lent internationally known actresses like Ellen Barkin ( The Big Easy ) , Kim Cattrall ( Purgatory of the Vanities ) , Lesley-Anne Down (among other things Torches in the Storm ) , Marcy Walker ( California Clan ) , Anjelica Huston ( The Prizzis' Honor ) , Diane Keaton ( hung up! ) , Grace Kelly ( The Window to the Courtyard , second dubbed version), Susan Sarandon ( The Witches of Eastwick ) , Cybill Shepherd ( The Model and the Snoop ) and Emma Thompson (under other sense and sensuality ) her voice. She was personally selected by director Steven Spielberg for her dubbing of Dee Wallace-Stone as Elliott's mother Mary in ET - The Extra-Terrestrial . In the Disney cartoon Bernard and Bianca im Kangaroo Land (The Rescuers Down Under) she spoke Bianca in the German version . She also lent her voice to the evil Gothel in the Disney cartoon Rapunzel - Tangled and in the film Merida - Legende der Highlands she spoke the role of Merida's mother Elinor in the German version . In addition to speaking, Monica Bielenstein also directs dubbing .
