Anjelica Huston
Anjelica Huston (born July 8, 1951 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American actress . In 1985 she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for The Honor of the Prizzis .
Family and early life
Anjelica Huston is the daughter of the film director John Huston and the Italian prima ballerina Enrica Soma (1929-1969), who died in a car accident at the age of 39. Anjelica Huston's grandfather was Oscar-winning actor Walter Huston . Her siblings include screenwriter Tony Huston and actor Danny Huston . She grew up mostly in Ireland and England, where she attended a Benedictine school.
Anjelica Huston is the only Oscar winner to win the trophy for a film directed by her own father. Together with Sofia Coppola, she is also the only third-generation Oscar winner. Her father John Huston won for The Treasure of the Sierra Madre an Oscar for Best Director and for Best Screenplay , her grandfather Walter Huston was considered for the same movie for Best Supporting Actor award.
Career
She made her film debut at the age of seventeen, directed by her father in A Journey with Love and Death from 1969. In the 1970s she worked mainly as a model and only occasionally took on small film roles until she was in the early 1980s -Years taking acting classes. Her breakthrough came through her involvement in her father's two last films, in the black mafia satire Die Ehre der Prizzis , for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress , and in the James Joyce adaptation The Dead .
Since then she has been cast in many films, with particular praise for her portrayal in the films Enemies - A Love Story , Grifters and The Royal Tenenbaums . She also achieved great popularity with the role as Morticia Addams in the films Addams Family and The Addams Family in Crazy Tradition . Today she mainly appears in supporting roles as a character actress .
Huston has also directed twice, on the one hand in her debut Defenseless - Shadows over Carolina , and on the other in the film Women Among Themselves , in which she also took the lead role.
In 2002 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . On January 22, 2010, she was honored with a star (6270 Hollywood Blvd.) on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
Private
From 1973 to 1989 Anjelica Huston lived with the actor Jack Nicholson . She was married to the sculptor Robert Graham from 1992 until his death in December 2008.
In 2015 her autobiography was published in German with the title Das Mädchen im Spiegel: An Autobiographie .
