production
The series started in November 2004 with a two-hour pilot episode on the US pay-TV channel Showtime and was shown in two seasons with a total of 26 episodes until June 2006. Although several actors were awarded and nominated for their participation with Emmys , and actors and other members of the crew were nominated for other awards, the station decided not to allow a third season to follow. This left several storylines open, which had dramatically come to a head in the finale of the second season.
