The Cinephon film production company with limited liability is a production company for the synchronization of films based in Berlin , registered at the Charlottenburg district court under HRB 15300. It was founded in 1975 by Peter Baumgartner as a subsidiary of the companies Ascot Filmverleih GmbH and Elite, operated by Erwin C. Dietrich Film AG (now known as Ascot Elite Entertainment Group ), co-owner of which Baumgartner was founded.
A Cinephon-Film GmbH, which was primarily dedicated to film production, previously existed from 1935 to 1938 and from 1948 to 1959.
history
Initially, the company mainly dubbed the films produced or distributed by Ascot and Elite and shared office space with Ascot in Berlin until the end of the 1980s. Numerous dubbed versions were created under the pen of Arne Elsholtz , Michael Nowka , Thomas Danneberg and Peter Baumgartner himself, including films such as Die Wildgänseommen , Secret Code: Wildgänse and The Boys from Brazil .
From the mid-1980s onwards, Cinephon also began editing films from other distributors. In 1990 Baumgartner parted company with Dietrich and devoted himself entirely to his dubbing company, which was now increasingly processing orders from other distributors and TV broadcasters.
For ProSieben , Cinephon began working on the US series X - Files in the early 1990s , which, with over 200 episodes over a 10-year period (1993 to 2002) and a movie, was one of the most striking productions in the company's history. In the first season of the series, Baumgartner himself was the dubbing director, from the second season Norbert Langer .
The management has been in the hands of Martin Ruddigkeit since 2001 . Since January 2014, the offices of Cinephon have been on the site of the former Berliner Union-Film in Berlin-Tempelhof .
