action

season 1

Klaus Mikaelson, an immortal hybrid (half werewolf, half vampire), is lured back by the witches of New Orleans to his old homeland, which he once founded with his half-siblings Elijah and Rebekah. Elijah and Rebekah follow him. In New Orleans they learn that Marcel, a boy whom Klaus once took under his wing and whom they believed to be dead, now rules the city. Klaus wants to take it back. At the same time he learns that Hayley, a werewolf woman, is expecting a child. This is used by the witches of New Orleans as leverage against Klaus by connecting the witch Sophie to Hayley so that he can stop Marcel. Because Marcel keeps the young and powerful witch Davina hidden, which he uses to keep the witches of the city under control. Davina is one of the four harvest maids who are sacrificed in the witches' harvest ritual in order to maintain the connection to the power of the witch ancestors. However, Davina was saved by Marcel. Since then she has been more powerful than any other witch and can always feel it when magic is being used in the city. Klaus manages to overthrow Marcel from the throne and takes control. Meanwhile, feelings develop between Hayley and Elijah. Meanwhile, Davina's powers spiral out of control. The ritual must be ended to protect the city from complete destruction by Davina's forces. According to the witches, when the ritual is over, all four harvest maids will wake up from the dead. Now it turns out that Sophie's niece Monique is one of the other three harvest girls and Sophie wants to bring her back. This is how Davina is sacrificed, but none of the harvest maids comes back to life. The former lover of Elijah and the witch Celeste, who took over the body from Sabine, has absorbed the power of the ritual and instead let three other dead witches take the place of the harvest maids. With the help of this she wants to take revenge on the original vampires. She brings Klaus and Rebekah against each other so that they want to kill each other. When one of the three dead who were brought back from Celeste dies, Monique comes back to life. She then kills her aunt Sophie, because she was to blame for the original failure of the harvest ritual. Rebekah and Marcel want to kill the other two resurrected witches and Celeste to bring Davina back so that she can protect them from Klaus. You manage to kill one of the two, which awakens another harvest girl. Through a ruse by Elijah, Celeste is helplessly returned to her old body by Monique and then killed by Elijah. Davina wakes up again. Meanwhile, Klaus is fighting Rebekah and intends to kill her with a white oak stake. However, the two make up again in time and Rebekah leaves New Orleans. Davina, Monique and Abigail (the third harvest girl) are now being tutored by Genevieve, who has taken the place of fourth harvest girl (Cassie). You are supposed to kill the still unborn daughter of Klaus. With the help of Francesca Correa, a wealthy woman who carries the werewolf gene, they kidnap Hayley. In return, Francesca receives moon rings that give the werewolves control over their abilities and transformation. Since these were made with Klaus' blood, they weaken Klaus with every full moon. Francesca and her siblings kill all normal vampires. Josh and Marcel can be saved, however. The witches bring the child into the world, kill Hayley and then want to sacrifice and consecrate the baby so that his power goes to the ancestors. Since Hayley had the baby's blood in her circulation when she died, she wakes up again and transforms into a hybrid. Klaus, Elijah and Hayley manage to save the baby. In doing so, they kill Genevieve, Abigail and Monique. Just before she dies, Genevieve reveals that it was Esther, the mother of the original vampires and one of the most powerful witches of all time, who had the plan to kill the baby. Esther has now become the leader of the ancestral witches on the other side. Davina brings his stepfather Mikael back to life to get Klaus to stretch. To protect the baby from the war in the city between vampires, werewolves and, above all, the witches, Klaus, Elijah and Hayley fake the baby's death. Meanwhile, Klaus brings the baby to the person he trusts most, his sister Rebekah. This promises to take care of the baby and protect it. When Rebekah asks what the baby is called, Klaus replies: "Your name is Hope" (= hope). At the end of the season you can see that Cassie has woken up and goes to Esther's grave. She lays a flower on the tombstone. Then a man, Vincent Griffith, shows up and says to Cassie, "May you rest in peace."

season 2

Esther, in the body of Cassie, has taken control of the werewolves and thus of the city. Klaus is weakened until the moon rings are destroyed. Elijah and Klaus meanwhile hold back to track down the rings and then destroy them. Hayley can't cope with the fact that her daughter can't be with her and that she has become a hybrid. Hayley helps Klaus and Elijah wipe out Francesca's wolf pack. Hayley kills Francesca and thinks this will bring her peace, but it doesn't help. Elijah stops Hayley when she destroys her daughter's nursery. Elijah can no longer get to Hayley and therefore asks Klaus Hayley to help. Klaus therefore goes to the witches' quarter with Hayley to kill witches with her and cheer her up. When Elijah finds out, he is not at all enthusiastic and wants Klaus Hayley to help get her pack back.

Esther has brought her two dead sons, Finn and Kol, back from the dead and put them in the bodies of the sorcerers Vincent and Kaleb. Kol (in the body of Kaleb) puts her on Davina and Finn (in the body of Vincent), as her most loyal supporter, on Camille. Meanwhile, Marcel is building a new vampire community / army in the harbor district. This also includes the young musician Gia. Marcel brings Elijah on board and wants him to teach Gia everything about being a vampire. Hayley finds a way that Hope can return to her - for that she has to marry the werewolf Jackson. This is the only way she can build an army of wolves to protect Hope. When she tells Elijah about it, he is shocked, but wishes Hope can come back and agrees to the wedding. Elijah and Hayley sleep together. Rebekah goes to New Orleans with Klaus to stop Esther, but the plan doesn't work. Esther becomes a vampire and Rebekah ends up in the body of the witch Eva Sinclair - she wakes up in a madhouse where other witches are locked up. Her sister Freya comes to her aid and helps her break out and get back to New Orleans. Kol joins Klaus, but secretly pursues his plan with Davina. Hayley's wedding is imminent. Esther's younger sister, Dahlia, shows up to get Hope. The reason for this is that Esther tried desperately to father children a long time ago. She went to Dahlia, who helped her with magic, but for this she demands every firstborn of a new generation. For this reason, Esther lost her eldest daughter Freya when she showed signs of magic. Dahlia has cast a spell with the help of Freya's magic that ensures that they sleep for a century, only to wake up with a great power for a whole year.

season 3

A prophecy that the three remaining original vampires would die within a year lures Lucien Castle and the siblings Tristan and Aurora de Martel to New Orleans. The three were the first vampires transformed by the original vampires almost 1000 years ago and now ostensibly want to protect their respective lines of creation. Secretly, however, the three are working on the plan to lock the original vampires away forever with the help of a spell. The plan fails, instead Tristan is trapped by the spell. Aurora turns Camille into a vampire out of jealousy. Davina, as regent of the witches of New Orleans, brings her ancestors against her and is expelled from the witch circle. She joins the Strix, an ancient vampire society that was originally founded by Elijah but was later led by Tristan. After Tristan dies, Marcel takes over the management of Strix through a trick. The witches of the Strix want to separate the lines of creation so that if a primeval vampire dies, his entire bloodline does not die too. However, this only works with Klaus in a ritual. With the magic that is released, Davina succeeds in bringing Kol back to life. Rebekah receives a curse that turns her into a ripper. To protect her, Elijah stabs her and keeps her in a coffin. A piece of white oak is found that Aurora has carved into wooden cartridges. The attempt to kill Elijah and Klaus with it fails, however, and only one cartridge remains. It turns out that Lucien has worked for centuries on a serum that will make him stronger and more powerful than the original vampires. With the help of the last white oak cartridge, Vincent speaks the same magic that created the original vampires. Lucien drinks the resulting serum. After his death as a vampire, he gets up again and is now stronger than the original vampire. His bite also consists of werewolf poison, but unlike Klaus' bite, it is incurable and can even kill an original vampire. He gives Aurora the second bottle of the serum, which she drinks but can be captured by Hayley and Camille shortly afterwards. On the hunt for Klaus, Lucien kills Finn and Camille. Kol, who has been cursed by an ancestral curse, kills Davina. Through a witch consecration, Davina's soul is sent to the ancestors, who attack them immediately. Freya, Kol, Vincent and Marcel try to revive them through this. After Lucien attacks Klaus, Freya sacrifices Davina to bundle her strength and undo the spell that had transformed Lucien. The magic works and Lucien is killed by Klaus. Because of Davina's involuntary sacrifice, Marcel and Vincent turn away from the Mikaelsons. Vincent succeeds in extracting the serum from Aurora's body and gives it to Marcel, whereupon the latter also turns into an overpowering vampire. Freya, Kol and Elijah are poisoned by an attack by Marcel's vampires and threaten to die. In order to find time to find remedies, Freya ties her life and the lives of Elijah, Kol and Rebekah to that of Klaus. With a ruse Klaus manages not to be killed by Marcel, but to be stabbed with a magical dagger, which means he has to suffer hellish torments, but protects his family, who are falling asleep. This gives Hayley the opportunity to search for cures longer.

Season 4

Five years have now passed. Hayley found a cure for her family and promised her 7 year old daughter Hope to reunite her with her family. Hayley first wakes Freya and heals her, Freya casts a spell to heal Elijah, Kol and Rebekah. Hayley, Elijah, Freya, Rebekah and Kol free Klaus and leave New Orleans. Meanwhile, children are kidnapped in New Orleans. Vincent had conjured up the Hollow a few years ago to free New Orleans from the vampires. However, the hollow drove his wife to sacrifice children, whereupon Vincent gave up the incantation. The hollow is now back, however, to gain strength if young witch children are to be sacrificed. Since Hope is also affected, the Mikealsons return to New Orleans and, with the help of Marcel and Vincent, free the children. Since the hollow needs energy to materialize in the world, it tries to induce Klaus and Marcel to fight with hallucinations, both are supposed to kill the other, the hollow would be reborn through the released energy . Elijah succeeds in incapacitating Marcel, who is then captured by the Mikaelsons. The Mikaelsons organize a party in Marcel's name to identify the followers of the Hollow , while Dominic turns out to be the High Priest of the Hollow , who is then killed by Elijah. With Freya's help, Hayley sees the death of her parents, both of whom were killed by a follower of the Hollow shortly after their birth . This she finds a key to a warehouse where they the jawbone of the remains of the Hollows place. It turns out that it would take a total of four remains to revive the hollow . Another part is Papa Tunde's dagger, which Klaus was stolen at the party. The high priest Dominic is revived by the followers of the hollow through a shamanic ritual . With the help of Vincent Griffith, the Mikaelson siblings decide to divide up the power of the Hollow in order to save Hope.

Season 5

The season takes place seven years after the events of season 4. The hollow is still in the Mikaelson siblings (Elijah, Klaus, Rebekah and Kol) who cannot approach each other because this would strengthen the hollow. Hope is now a teenager and attends the Salvatore Boarding School for Supernatural Beings. There she meets the vampire Roman, whose family came into contact with the Mikaelson in an earlier time. Elijah, who had his memories deleted by Marcel at the end of season 4, lives in France and met Antoinette there. It later turns out that she is Roman's sister. Rebekah now lives with Marcel in New York, who makes her a marriage proposal at the beginning of the season. Kol and Davina are married, Freya and Keelin also get married in the season. Later in the season, Elijah regains his memories with the help of his siblings and Hope. As a result, the whole magic of the Hollow , which was previously split up in the Mikaelsons, is completely transferred to Hope.

The vampire Emmett comes to New Orleans with a plan to kill Klaus. For this he gathers witches in a church. Klaus, knowing about the plan, lets Hope kill all beings in the church. As a result, a priest dies who was also in the church with Declan, Hayle's friend, at the time. Declan is saved by Klaus with the help of vampire blood. Since Hope kills a human being for the first time, albeit unintentionally, the werewolf curse is triggered on her . Due to the power of the hollow, Hope turns black all over. Since she has too much power in her, she will die. Klaus and Elijah take her to see Caroline in Mystic Falls. Together with Caroline's daughters, it is possible to transfer the hollow to Klaus at the moment when Hope turns into a werewolf. Klaus and Elijah kill each other in the season finale.
