Meg Foster
Meg Foster (born May 10, 1948 in Reading , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress .
life and career
After her acting training at Sanford Meisner's renowned Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City , Meg Foster initially worked at the theater. Since the early 1970s, she has mainly worked for television.
Her exceptionally pale blue, almost transparent eyes led to numerous roles as a blind, vulnerable beauty (e.g. in the TV film Killer Frei Haus from 1983). For the same reason, however, she could also be used as a creepy cult member ( The sweet word promise from 1981, which earned her a nomination for the Genie Award ), as an unscrupulous businesswoman ( Leviathan from 1989), as a humanoid alien ( Star Trek: Deep Space Nine : The Muse from 1996) and as Cyborg ( Alien Desperados from 1994). In the film version of Masters of the Universe gave in 1987 alongside Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella , the Evil-Lyn . In science fiction - Thriller They live! (1988) by John Carpenter , she also embodied the evil that had to be killed. In the horror film Stepfather II (1989), however, she had to defend herself as a real estate agent against her future murderous husband.
Foster's gaze was the essential quality feature in so many films that critic Joe Bob Briggs once referred to her as “the Cruella De Vil of the drive-in film,” an allusion to the villain from the Disney film 101 Dalmatians .
But Meg Foster had grown even larger representational challenges, in 1979 in the lead role of a film version of The Scarlet Letter or a year before in Respectively the other way as a lesbian woman who falls in love with her gay roommate.
In 1982, after the rejection of Loretta Swit , who had played in the pilot , she got the lead role of policewoman Christine Cagney in the television series Cagney & Lacey . Before the series could finally turn out to be a worldwide success, the producers decided after six episodes to replace Meg Foster with Sharon Gless and thus with a supposedly "more feminine" actress, as they were the combination of the two "strong" women Meg Foster and Tyne Daly seemed to give rise to speculation about the sexual orientation of the main characters. Meg Foster's best chance of becoming a star was thus ruined. On May 4, 2012, Foster is part of the Sie_leben - Reunion at the Texas Frightmare Weekend with Roddy Piper and Keith David .
Foster was temporarily married to actor Stephen McHattie .
