XML editor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An XML editor is a computer program for editing of XML -documents. In addition to the input of plain text, which is possible with normal text editors , XML editors have special capabilities that support the user when entering data, the correct structure of which is determined by a document type definition (DTD) or an XML schema belonging to the document . This enables the editor to only allow valid data entries and reject others, which prevents incorrect entries.

XML editors often also offer different views of the XML files. The text view shows the content of the XML data directly and is usually supported by syntax highlighting and automatic completion. In the grid view, the elements are displayed as hierarchical grids or tables. The browser view shows how the data would appear in a browser.

XML editors are available as a standalone program, as a plug-in in another editor / display program or also web-based.
