Nathan Dean Parsons (born June 16, 1988 in Adelaide ) is an Australian - American actor .

life and career

Nathan Parsons was born in Adelaide , South Australia in June 1988 and grew up in Colorado and Texas . He moved to Los Angeles to do his Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting at the University of Southern California .

Parsons began his career as a voice actor for the Japanese Anime - TV series The Secret of Blue Water . A few more dubbing jobs followed, including for Hoshin Engi and King of Bandit Jing , before he got his first acting role in 2007 in the horror film Teeth - Whoever bites last, bites best . In 2009 he shot the film The Brotherhood V: Alumni . He gained fame from January 30, 2009 to March 7, 2012 as Ethan Lovett in the American Soap General Hospital , for which he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2012 . He returned to the series in January 2013 for two episodes. In 2011 he made a guest appearance on the ABC Family - sitcom State of Georgia .

After leaving the soap he got the supporting role of Godot in the drama series New in Paradise . However, the series was discontinued after the first season. In 2014, he received a supporting role on The CW television series The Originals as Werewolf Jackson . As of 2014, he impersonated the role of James in the seventh and final season of True Blood , previously played by Luke Grimes .
