King of Bandit Jing ( Japanese王 ド ロ ボ ウ JING Ō Dorobou Jing ) is a manga by the artist Yuichi Kumakura , which was also filmed as an anime. He can be assigned to the Shōnen genre. The manga continues with King of Bandit Jing: Bottle .

The boy Jing calls himself the king of thieves and wanders through the world with his loyal companion Kir, a crow-like bird, in search of priceless treasures. He comes through different cities that are very imaginative and each have a specific theme. There is, for example, the city of music, where everyone makes music continuously. He meets various people, mostly girls, whom he helps, using the Kir Royal weapon , which the bird Kir represents. However, he never forgets to acquire a certain treasure in the end.

Characters

  • Jing - is a boy and the king of thieves. Who he is, where he comes from and whether he has a family will not be revealed for a long time. He is always very calm.
  • Kir - is a bird and Jing's constant companion. A very cheeky creature who likes to and often falls in love with different girls and then persuades Jing to save them. When he jumps on Jing's arm, he turns into a weapon at his command and spits out a kind of ball of energy.

The first series has been published in Japan since 1995 by Kōdansha and in Germany in 2002 by Dino Comics and is completed with 7 volumes. In America the series was licensed by Tokyopop . King of Bandit Jing: Bottle has been published by Planet Manga since 2003 and has not yet been completed in Japan either and so far comprises 7 volumes.

There is a TV series and 3 OVAs , the latter of which has already appeared in Germany with ADV Films Germany and in the USA with ADV Films. The series was produced by Studio DEEN in 2002 .
