Martin Lohmann (born March 14, 1957 in Bonn ) is a German Roman Catholic publicist and journalist .

Life

education

After graduating from high school in 1976, Lohmann studied history , Catholic theology , philosophy and educational science at the Jesuit Aloisius College in Bad Godesberg at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1983 he passed the exams in history and theology. As a student he was in the history seminar with Konrad Repgen and in the Association for Research into Modern History e. V. active in Bonn.

Professional activities

From 1983 to 1987 Martin Lohmann was deputy federal manager of the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU). In 1987 he joined the editorial team of Rheinischer Merkurs and later became department head of Christ und Welt . From 1994 to 1997 he was deputy editor-in-chief there . From 1998 to 2004 he was editor-in-chief of the Rhein-Zeitung , from 1996 to 2002 he was the presenter of the Münchner Runde , a live political talk show on Bavarian Radio . In 2002 he founded the Joseph Höffner Society together with Lothar Roos and was its 2nd chairman until 2010. He has been working as a freelance journalist since 2005. He has been a columnist at Bild since 2007 .

As of 2006, he was a lecturer in media ethics at the Macromedia University of the Media in Cologne. In February 2013, the university declared that it would no longer employ Lohmann as a lecturer after controversial statements on homosexuality and abortion (see below). He finished his work on the university's voluntary board of trustees himself.

In July 2010 Lohmann took over the publishing management of JP Bachem Verlag in Cologne. On October 1, 2012, he became editor-in-chief of the private Catholic television station K-TV . This contractual relationship was terminated at the end of 2014 and the station's editorial team was dissolved. Lohmann is also on the editorial board of the magazine Die Neueordnung . From September 2009 to April 2017 he was the federal chairman of the Federal Association for the Law of Life .

Lohmann had been a CDU member since 1972 .

Lohmann was the spokesman for the working group of committed Catholics in the CDU (AEK) founded on November 15, 2009, and in spring 2010 he joined the " Stop the Left Trend Action " as the first signatory of the manifesto against the left trend .

On September 19, 2013, he announced his resignation from the CDU. Lohmann is an opponent of abortions . Lohmann is committed to numerous social projects in the Holy Land .
