concept

The moderators present current topics from politics and business for discussion. As a rule, four to five politicians, celebrities or other political and economic actors are invited as guests.

Until April 2016, the program was broadcast weekly and moderated alternately by Ursula Heller and Sigmund Gottlieb . Since the program reform in BR Fernsehen on April 11, 2016, the program has been broadcast every two weeks. With Gottlieb's retirement, Ursula Heller took over the moderation on March 1, 2017. Christian Nitsche , who is also editor-in-chief of Bayerischer Rundfunk , has also been moderating the show since April 24, 2017 . Christian Nitsche has been the only moderator since 2020.

Controversy

In September 2007, Bayerischer Rundfunk had to formally apologize to Wolfgang Bosbach after an alleged request for a convert register had been attributed to him in a press release following the broadcast. The alleged demand was subsequently taken up by numerous other media and led to media outrage among political parties, trade unions and Islamic associations. Bayerischer Rundfunk attributed the error to an external editorial office that had been commissioned and with whom the collaboration had ended.

There were disagreements in 2016. The Greens politician Claudia Roth and the publicist Henryk M. Broder were supposed to take part in a program on the refugee situation . Shortly before the broadcast, Broder was unloaded and suspected an intervention by Roth behind it. A query at Bayerischer Rundfunk showed that Roth was the reason for the change. Roth's office manager also confirmed that Roth had signaled to the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation that if Broder took part, she would not take part in the round. The final decision was made by the broadcaster.
