Bull is an American television series that premiered on CBS on September 20, 2016 . The main actor of the series is Michael Weatherly, known from Navy CIS and Dark Angel . The German-language first broadcast took place on January 11, 2017 on the pay TV channel 13th Street . From August 21, 2017, the first season was broadcast on the German free TV station Sat.1 .

Dr. Jason Bull ( Michael Weatherly ) has three doctorates, including one in psychology, and with his company Trial Analysis Corporation (TAC) he has made it his business to specifically select jury members, assess them and analyze processes. His team includes his ex-brother-in-law and lawyer Benjamin "Benny" Colón ( Freddy Rodríguez ), former CIA member Marissa Morgan ( Geneva Carr ), former police officer and FBI agent Danielle "Danny" James ( Jaime Lee Kirchner ), former football player and current stylist Chunk Palmer ( Christopher Jackson ); and computer specialist Cable McCrory ( Annabelle Attanasio ). McCrory can no longer be seen from the third season, her death becomes known in the second episode, she is replaced by Taylor Rentzel ( MacKenzie Meehan ), a former colleague of Marissa.

The series is loosely based on the life of the well-known US psychologist and television presenter Phil McGraw , also known as "Dr. Phil ”, who worked as a so-called trial consultant prior to his television work.

In early February 2016, CBS commissioned a pilot episode for Bull. Michael Weatherly took on the leading role in March 2016. The series was officially ordered on May 13, 2016, and the premiere took place on September 20, 2016 following NCIS.

Due to good ratings , the original series order was expanded from 13 to 23 episodes on October 17, 2016 ( back nine order ).

In March 2017, CBS extended the series for a second season. The second season began broadcasting on September 26, 2017.

The third season of the series was ordered on April 18, 2018. On May 6, 2020, CBS announced the extension for a fifth season.

Germany

The first broadcast in Germany took place from January 11 to June 14, 2017 on the pay-TV channel 13th Street . It has been broadcast on free TV since August 21, 2017 on Sat.1 .
