Fantastic Movie (Original title: Epic Movie ) is an American comedy film directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer from 2007. Both of them also worked in similar film productions such as Scary Movie , Date Movie , Meine Frau, die Spartans und I and Disaster Movie .

The orphan Lucy works in a museum. She witnesses how the curator Jacques Saunière is murdered. Before his death, Saunière gives her a code that the somewhat simple-minded Lucy cannot decipher at first, but which then gives her a golden ticket for Willy Wonka's chocolate factory .

Edward, another orphan, lives in an orphanage in Mexico and dreams of becoming a luchador (wrestler). After an argument with the cook and monks who run the orphanage, he too stumbles upon another golden card for Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

Susan, the third orphan, is on the flight to her new adoptive parents Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when suddenly countless lines appear on the plane . Samuel L. Jackson eventually throws Susan off the plane. This falls on Paris Hilton , who has just finished a shopping spree. Susan also finds a golden ticket.

The fourth and last orphan, the coward Peter, lives with the outsiders of society - the mutants . But even in Mutant High School, he is considered an outsider. In fact, he is even mocked by the headmaster. By chance, Peter also finds one of the golden tickets.

Lucy, Edward, Susan, and Peter eventually arrive at Wonka's Chocolate Factory. The factory owner Willy Wonka tells the orphans that he uses human body parts to make chocolate and takes the four prisoners. Lucy escapes and through a large cupboard reaches Gnarnia (with a silent G) and meets the faun Mr. Tumnus. Meanwhile, Edward also comes to Gnarnia and meets the white bitch (in the original White Bitch , parody of White Witch ), who he is initially taken with. However, she later turns out to be angry and imprisons Edward in her castle. The other orphans escaped. Edward seeks a way out of his prison. There he meets the weird Captain Jack Swallows . He and Swallows overwhelm the guards and escape. Meanwhile, the other orphans meet Harry Plotter and his friends, who are preparing them for the fight against the White Slut.

You meet the chubby half lion Aslo, who leads the resistance against the white slut. The four orphans learn that they are quadruplets, i.e. siblings, although some of them have different ethnic backgrounds. They are also part of a prophecy that says they will overthrow the White Slut. After Aslo's death and an exuberant party, the next day there is a battle against the army of the white slut. After an initially hopeless fight, Peter falls into an ominous remote control. With this he stops the enemy warriors, which enables the killing of the outnumbered opponents. The orphans are then named kings and queens of the country by the grateful people.

Many years later, the orphans are now old and gray, by chance they find their way home again. When they leave the closet on the other side, they are young again. The happy ending doesn't last long, however, as shortly after this miracle they are overrun by Jack Swallows walking on a giant water wheel. Borat mockingly says goodbye to the audience.

Reviews

The reviews of the film were mostly negative. At Rotten Tomatoes , it received a 2% rating. For the Razzie 2008 was Epic Movie nominated in three categories.

Ronnie Scheib wrote in Variety magazine on January 26, 2007 that the comedy was "fantastically uncomfortable". It offers "extravagant backdrops, special effects, music, costumes and a few lame gags".

The lexicon of international films judges: “The ingenious attempt to parody the commercial 'big films' of recent years fails because the films to be parodied are themselves designed as genre parodies. The result is almost paralyzing boredom. "

In the Internet Movie Database , Fantastic Movie ranks 12th on the list of worst movies.
