Fergie Duhamel (born Stacy Ann Ferguson , born March 27, 1975 in Whittier , California ), known as Fergie , is an American singer , songwriter , rapper and actress . From 2003 to 2017 she was a member of the band The Black Eyed Peas , which won several Grammys .

Ferguson was born on March 27, 1975 as the first child to Theresa Ann and Patrick Ferguson. She attended Mesa Robles Middle School and Glen A. Wilson High School. In her younger years she became increasingly active as an actress. For example, she has been in front of the camera for TV series such as Mr. Belvedere and A Terribly Nice Family . She gained fame primarily with Kids Incorporated , an entertainment program for children in which she appeared from 1984 to 1989. Ferguson also worked as a voice actress for the animated series Charlie Brown .

Ferguson later became a member of the Wild Orchid vocal trio . The three-piece band released five singles and two less successful albums. After completing the third album, internal label conflicts prevented the record from being released. Ferguson then left Wild Orchid and was forced to go to therapy because of mental health problems (including addiction to ecstasy and crystal ).

In the summer of 2003, Ferguson replaced the former background singer of the Black Eyed Peas , Kim Hill . Although she was initially only planned as a guest performer, will.i.am , Apl.de.ap and Taboo Ferguson later persuaded them to join the band as a full member. The group has since sold more than 50 million records.

In July 2006 Ferguson finally released her first solo single London Bridge . In the second week the song jumped from number 84 to 5; then London Bridge reached number 1 in the US charts as well as the top 5 in the German and Austrian single charts . Her solo debut, The Dutchess , was released on September 19, 2006 in the United States and reached number 2. The album also reached high chart positions in other countries and has sold over five million copies worldwide. With the third single, Glamorous , Ferguson was able to record another number one hit in the USA and the fourth single, Big Girls Don't Cry , rose to the top of the American charts, making Ferguson the first female since Christina Aguilera Is a solo artist who managed to get three number 1 hits from the same album in the US Hot 100. In 2008, Big Girls Don't Cry Ferguson also earned a Grammy nomination. On May 14, 2007, she started her solo tour of the United States in Seattle .

In July 2006, Ferguson was also seen in her first major supporting role on the big screen. In Wolfgang Petersen's film remake Poseidon , for whose soundtrack she contributed two titles, Ferguson played the singer Gloria . In 2007 she had a supporting role in the horror film Grindhouse . She also sang the theme song to Shrek the Third . In 2006 she was named the woman with the most beautiful legs in show business. A year earlier, Jennifer Aniston had received this title. In September 2007 Ferguson also launched its first handbag collection.

In 2006, Ferguson was voted 36th among the 100 most attractive women in the world by readers of the men's magazine Maxim ; the next year, she was 10th on the same list.

At the MTV Video Music Awards 2007 , Ferguson won the Best Female Artist Of The Year category , at the Teen Choice Awards she was nominated twice and won the award for Choice Female Artist . At the Latin Grammy Awards 2007 she was nominated for Impacto with Daddy Yankee . She also won the award for best artist in the 2007 American Music Awards in the Pop / Rock category.

In early 2008, Ferguson re-recorded the song Beat It for the anniversary edition of Michael Jackson's Thriller album .

In her 2008 song Clumsy , Ferguson used a sample from famous American rapper Jay-Z in the chorus .

In 2008 she recorded a featuring with Japanese singer Kumi Kōda . The song is called That Ain't Cool , there is a music video and the single on which the song is is called Moon . The single sold 138,000 times in Japan according to the Oricon charts and reached number 2 on the Oricon Weekly Charts .

From 2009 to 2010 she worked a lot with ex- Guns-N'-Roses guitarist Slash . In addition to numerous guest appearances at his concerts, she also went to the studio with him. On the B-side of the single Sahara (with Kōshi Inaba ) was a new version of the song Paradise City , in which Cypress Hill also participated. She sang the song Beautiful Dangerous on the 2010 solo album Slash .

In May 2010, her first perfume, Outspoken , was launched.

In 2016 she released the single MILF $ . The album Double Dutchess was released in September 2017, but fell short of expectations commercially and failed to reach the top 10.

Private

Since January 10, 2009, Ferguson was married to actor Josh Duhamel . Ferguson gave birth to their son on August 29, 2013 in Los Angeles. On September 15, 2017, the separation of the two was announced.
