Labels or Love is a pop / rap song by the American singer and rapper Fergie . It was released in 2008 as the second single from the deluxe version of their 2006 solo debut studio album The Dutchess . It was the official song for the movie Sex and the City and samples the Sex and the City theme by Douglas J. Cuomo . The song was released in Brazil on May 4, 2008 . In the US , the song was officially released on June 3, 2008 as The Dutchess' last single . Labels or Love debuted at number 28 on the Australian ARIA charts and reached number 15 in week two. In the UK , the single only reached number 56.

The song was nominated at the 35th People's Choice Awards in the "Favorite Song from a Soundtrack" category, but came behind Mamma Mia! by Meryl Streep and Another Way to Die by Jack White & Alicia Keys from Quantum of Solace only in 3rd place. Fergie recorded a music video with dancers just for himself. The music video was never released because the single was barely successful.
