Gianfranco Bettetini

Gianfranco Bettetini (born January 16, 1933 in Milan ; † January 12, 2017 there ) was an Italian semiotic , screenwriter and film director .

Life

Bettetini graduated from Politecnico di Milano as an electrical engineer and has been a lecturer in film history and film criticism since 1965 . At the same time he worked for the RAI as an author and director for cultural and documentary programs and took over the direction of television films. Between 1969 and 1986 he directed five films himself, shot in cinema format but shown on television, in which he developed a personal cinematic language .

After that, Bettetini devoted himself to communication studies , especially audiovisual semiotics , and was scientific director of the Instituto Agostino Gemelli as well as a university lecturer. He has numerous publications to show in his specialist areas.
