Glamorous is a R & B - song of the American singer Fergie in collaboration with the American rapper Ludacris . It was released on March 16, 2007 as the lead single from Fergie's debut studio album The Dutchess .

The piece was written by Ludacris, Elvis Williams, Polow da Don , Fergie and will.i.am , the production was done by Polow da Don in collaboration with Ron Fair. The recordings took place in the Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles and in the Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta . The mixing was performed by Tony Maserati and Ryan Kennedy. The song, written in four-four time and in C major , has a tempo of 130 beats per minute . The chord progression is G-Am7-Fmaj7, Fergie's vocal range extends from E3 to C5.

Reviews

Glamorous received mixed reviews. Valerie Timm from Laut.de describes the song as "another Polow Da Don board", for her "[the song] also has hit potential". For Matthias Reichel from CDstarts.de , however , Glamorous is “really weak filling material”.

Commercial win

Glamorous debuted in the German single charts on March 30, 2007 at number 16, which is also the highest position for this song in Germany. For Fergie this was the second top 20 success as a solo artist in Germany. In total, the song stayed in the single charts for 13 weeks. In the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and in the Swiss charts , Glamorous took 25th and 36th place. In the British single charts , Fergie achieved her second top 10 success as a solo artist after London Bridge . For over 200,000 copies sold in the UK, the song was awarded a silver record by the British Phonographic Industry in July 2013 .

Glamorous debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 98 in January 2007, two weeks before its official release. The song subsequently reached number 9 and became Fergie's third top 10 hit as a solo artist in six months. After the re-release of Glamorous as a download single, the song climbed back into the top 10 at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 17, 2007. In March 2007, Glamorous reached the top and became Fergie's second number one hit in the US; the single stayed at number 1 for two weeks, but dropped to number 2 a week later. Glamorous became the tenth best-selling single in the US in 2007 and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 2007 charts.

Glamorous debuted in the Australian ARIA charts at number 10, reached number 3 the following week and rose to number 2 a week later. The song was awarded triple platinum by the ARIA for over 210,000 units sold. Glamorous reached number 13 in the Australian annual charts in 2007. The song also reached the top 10 in Finland (number 7) and New Zealand (number 9).

Music video

The music video had its world premiere in February 2007 on MTV 's TRL . Directed by Dave Meyers. The music video started in 1994 with Fergie and Polow da Don at a party in East Los Angeles before Fergie became famous. She gets on a plane wearing expensive sunglasses and a long fur coat , for which she has been criticized in the media . The flight manager is played by Freddy Rodríguez . Fergie watches the Black Eyed Peas music video for Pump It while in flight . After landing, surrounded by paparazzi , she climbs into a stretch limousine in which she waits for her colleagues, with whom she drives to a Taco Bell restaurant. The next scene shows Fergie and Ludacris in a movie called Glamorous , a parody of Bonnie and Clyde . Both hold guns and threaten a police officer . Ludacris raps about "the crazy things he wants to buy her". They then fight the police . After the shooting, the plane scene is repeated. While getting on the jet, Fergie recalls her childhood when her father warned her about life in showbiz and the media and music industry.
