After Big Girls Don't Cry was written, management decided to send a demo recording and lyrics to various music labels . After a while it arrived at Bad Boy Records , where Jordan McCoy dealt with the material. McCoy's team recorded the song as an instrumental and sent it back for Fergie to sing and then release as a single. She put the song on her debut album at the last minute.

Music video

The music video was directed by Anthony Mandler. Filming began on March 30, 2007. The music video premiered on MTV's TRL on May 16, 2007. The music video for Big Girls Don't Cry became the most successful of 2007 on many music networks. Milo Ventimiglia plays Fergie's boyfriend.

The music video begins with Fergie getting out of a red 1969 Ford Mustang and walking into a department store where she meets her band who are rehearsing. Fergie wears sunglasses , a tight red t-shirt and black leather jeans . Finally she sings in a chair. In the next scene, Fergie is in bed with her tattooed boyfriend, both half-naked, her boyfriend ( Milo Ventimiglia ) is sleeping. Later they both go to their friend's apartment and she writes down the lyrics in the kitchen . A short time later, Fergie sees her boyfriend with several guys, one of whom is giving her boyfriend a package of drugs . She becomes aggressive and wants to leave him. In the garden she takes her clothes off the clothesline and puts them in a travel bag. At the end of the song, Fergie drives away. Her boyfriend is now alone in the apartment, sleeping, Fergie has left him.

Remix version

At the end of 2007 a remix version of Big Girls Don't Cry was produced, which contains a new 80s sound. The remix, titled Big Girls Remix , is a duet with rapper Sean Kingston , who produced a new beat that he raps over . Fergie raps a few times, but otherwise the standard song is sung.
