Ludacris
Ludacris (born September 11, 1977 in Champaign , Illinois ; actually Christopher Brian Bridges ) is an American rapper and actor .
Career
Ludacris began his career in 1998, initially with a guest contribution to a production by rap producer Timbaland . At the beginning of 2000 he released his first album Incognegro on the independent label Disturbing tha Peace , which, as Ludacris had very good contacts with radio stations, developed into a regional hit. To finance it, he took a job on the popular hip-hop broadcaster Hot 97.5.
Through this success, the renowned rap label Def Jam became aware of Ludacris and signed him. In 2000 Def Jam brought Ludacris' first album back on the market, supplemented by some new productions, under the title Back for the First Time . His follow-up album Word of Mouf reached number 3 on the American Billboard charts in autumn 2001 .
Christopher Brian Bridges gave himself his stage name in allusion to the English adjective "ludicrous" (German: funny, ridiculous). Together with OutKast and Goodie Mob , he belongs to the second generation of the Dirty South movement (after the Geto Boys and Scarface ) . With the single "What's Your Fantasy" (an explicit duet about sexual fantasies) he developed this hip hop variety from the US South in 2000.
In 2004, in collaboration with R&B singer Usher and rapper Lil Jon, the single Yeah! . In April 2004 it was at number 1 in the charts in the USA, Great Britain and Germany. On February 19, 2007 Ludacris performed as a musical guest at a Prince concert .
Like other rappers, he was drawn into the film business in 2001. The first leading role had Ludacris in the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious . He was also seen in the film LA Crash (2004). He then had roles in Max Payne (2008), Gamer (2009), Fast & Furious Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Fast & Furious 7 (2015) and Fast & Furious 8 (2017). In most of his films he is dubbed by Jan Odle .
In 2008 he made his first appearance in Germany at the Hip Hop Open in Stuttgart. A year later he made his first appearance on Swiss soil at the Frauenfeld Openair .
On August 12, 2010, Ludacris announced that he was working on the ninth album, including with The Neptunes . The album will be called Ludaversal and should be released on September 11, 2012. However, the album did not appear on the stated release date, but was set to the first quarter of 2013. Jingalin is the first single. The second single Representin with Kelly Rowland was played for the first time on August 31, 2012 on the radio. In 2014 the EP Burning Bridges was released , from which the single Good Lovin ' (feat. Miguel ) was released in December 2014. The album Ludaversal wasn't released until 2015.
