Back for the First Time ( English for: " back for the first time ") is the second solo album by the US rapper Ludacris and the musician's first album to be released on a major label. It was released on October 16, 2000 on the labels Disturbing tha Peace and Def Jam Recordings .

The album contains mostly songs from Ludacris' independent debut album Incognegro . Only the songs Stick 'Em Up , Southern Hospitality , What's Your Fantasy Remix and Phat Rabbit were not included on Incognegro .

production

Ludacris, who produced three songs and two skits himself, and Chaka Zulu acted as executive producers on the album . Six songs on the album were produced by music producer Bangladesh, while Timbaland , The Neptunes , Jermaine Dupri and Organized Noize each contributed an instrumental. Fate Wilson, I-20 and Mike Johnson were also involved in individual titles.

Cover design

The album cover is in black and white and shows Ludacris, who puts a hand on his head and looks at the viewer. In the upper part of the picture is the red lettering Ludacris , while the title Back for the First Time is written in black on the left edge of the picture from bottom to top.

Guest Posts

In addition to Ludacris, other artists are represented on eight songs on the album. The rapper Shawnna is involved in the songs What's Your Fantasy and What's Your Fantasy Remix , the latter also featuring the rappers Trina and Foxy Brown . Tracks 1st & 10 and Catch Up are collaborations with rappers I-20 and Fate Wilson, and the rap duo UGK has a guest appearance on Stick 'Em Up . Ludacris also works with musician Pharrell Williams on Southern Hospitality , while rapper Pastor Troy supports him on Get Off Me . Furthermore, the rapper 4-Ize has a guest contribution on the song Mouthing Off .

Back for the First Time entered the US album charts at number 4 on November 4, 2000 and was in the top 200 for a total of 55 weeks. In Germany the album missed the charts.

As singles , the songs were What's Your Fantasy (US # 21, 22 wk.) And Southern Hospitality (US # 23, 20 wk.) Decoupled.
