The Neptunes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American hip-hop production team The Neptunes consists of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo and has played a major role in popular music since the late 1990s.

Career

They had their breakthrough in 1998 with the production of Noreagas Superthug . In 1999 they produced the debut album Kaleidoscope by singer Kelis , which increasingly attracted the attention of a wider audience. The Neptunes also composed the rhythms for Nelly's Hot In Herre , Ol 'Dirty Bastards Nigga Please , Britney Spears ' I'm A Slave For You and for a large part of Justin Timberlake's solo debut Justified . Groups from other musical genres such as B. No Doubt and Garbage have already received support from The Neptunes.

The style of the respected producer team combines funk with electronic elements and is characterized by the very sparse use of samples . Both also play instruments themselves, Williams is originally a drummer , plays keyboards and sings. Hugo plays guitar and synthesizer .

The Neptunes also make up a large part of the band NERD , whose first album In Search Of… went gold. Well-known songs from this album were Rock Star , Lap Dance and Provider . The album Fly Or Die , released in 2004, was also very successful, as was the single She Wants To Move . In addition to hip-hop, this formation has very strong rock influences.
