Lil 'Kim
Lil 'Kim (born July 11, 1974 or 1975 in New York City ; real name Kimberly Denise Jones ) is an American rapper , singer and actress .
life and career
Lil 'Kim was in Bedford-Stuyvesant (District Brooklyn born, New York City) and grew up in a children's home after the divorce of their parents. Through her acquaintance with her future mentor and lover, The Notorious BIG , she discovered her musical talent. In 1996 her debut album Hard Core was released . Their breakthrough in Europe managed Lil 'Kim in 2001 with the Phil Collins - Cover In the Air Tonight . Together with Mýa , Pink and Christina Aguilera , she had her greatest success with the cover version of Lady Marmalade , as the song topped the charts in Germany as well as in the United States and Great Britain . For this song, the singers won a Grammy in 2002 , the highest award in the music business.
She received special attention in Germany in 2002 for her song Kimnotyze , which is a cover of Notorious BIG's song Hypnotize . After the rapper's death, she recorded Kimnotyze with the rapper Trooper Da Don and the producer DJ Tomekk , sometimes rapping in German (“Gib's mir right, no matter where”).
In July 2005, Lil 'Kim was sentenced to one year and one day imprisonment and a fine of $ 50,000 for perjury . In 2003, she testified under oath that she would not have been present at a shooting in front of the studio of the radio station Hot 97 . With this, she wanted to protect two friends involved, including her manager. She was later convicted with the help of video recordings. On September 19, 2005, Lil 'Kim began serving the prison term. One week before her 32nd birthday, on July 4, 2006, she was released early for good conduct.
In South Korea she became known in 2009 with the song Girls in a featuring with the successful singer Se7en . Lil 'Kim released her third mixtape on September 11th, 2014. It's called "Hard Core 2k14". She performed with P. Diddy at the BET Awards on June 28, 2015 with a medley.
In 2014, Lil Kim gave birth to a daughter. On November 2, 2017, she released her comeback single Took Us A Break .
On October 11, 2019, Lil Kim released her fifth studio album "9" after 14 years.
