Kimnotyze is a song by the German - Polish DJ and music producer DJ Tomekk in collaboration with the US rapper Lil 'Kim and the German rapper Trooper Da Don . The song was released on September 30, 2002 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and reached number six in the German single charts . He is included on DJ Tomekk's second studio album Beat of Life Vol.1 .

background

As for his debut album Return of Hip-Hop , DJ Tomekk also used his acquaintance with hip-hop artists from the United States in the 1990s for his second album Beat of Live Vol.1 . Lil 'Kim had originally wanted to cancel the collaboration for the song Kimnotyze due to filming. When DJ Tomekk pretended to want to record the song with her competitor Foxy Brown instead of Lil 'Kim , Lil' Kim decided to record the song after all.

Musical

Kimnotyze is a hip-hop song that contains both English -speaking and German-speaking raps . The first stanza of Lil 'Kim and the chorus are in English. The second verse is rapped in German by Trooper Da Don, while Lil 'Kim repeats the German sentence "Give it to me right, no matter where." At the end of the song, both repeat the chorus four times. Kimnotyze uses a total of three samples . The beat was sampled from the song Juicy Fruit by the band Mtume, while the chorus and title of the song is a reinterpretation of the song Hypnotize by The Notorious BIG . The song also uses a sample of the Sesame Street intro . Was produced Kimnotyze DJ Tomekk and Thomas Schneider.

criticism

Kimnotyze was received rather negatively by the critics. Stefan Johannesberg from Laut.de especially criticized Trooper Da Don, who "shoots the bird when it comes to sexism with a brutal voice". He also criticized the "uninspired produced synth sounds". The newspaper Musikexpress praised the “promising ranks of rap features”, but criticized the “unoriginal sounds and beats” as well as the “riotous, irony-free sex styles”.

Commercial win

Kimnotyze reached the top 10 in Germany, while the song was less successful in Austria and Switzerland and did not make it into the top 30. Kimnotyze reached number six in the German single charts on November 4, 2002 , which is the highest position in these charts. Overall, the song was able to stay in the top 10 for five weeks . For both DJ Tomekk and Lil 'Kim, Kimnotyze was the third single to make it into the top 10 of the German single charts, with Lil' Kim being the first female rapper to do so. Outside the German-speaking area, Kimnotyze was able to place in the Belgian single charts ( Flanders ) at number 38.

Music video

Kimnotyze's music video was shot on a closed highway . At the beginning of the video, DJ Tomekk appears with a monster truck . The rap parts are mainly performed in front of and in a stretch limousine , while Lil 'Kim raps her parts while sitting on a standing motorcycle in front of a huge flag of the United States .
