Get Down on It is a funk song by the band Kool & the Gang from their album Something Special , which was released in 1981. The number was released as a single in the US on December 18, 1981 and reached number three in the UK as a hit parade placement . This single was also sold in other countries.
Although Get Down on It never reached the top spot, the song has held up well as a long-running hit over the decades and is still part of the standard repertoire of pop stations and discos. Some cover versions were also released. One of these covers reached number one in New Zealand's 2004 charts .
