Junior MAFIA ( M asters A t F inding I ntelligent A ttitudes) was an American rap group from the environment of the successful rapper The Notorious BIG
Career
The group was formed in 1994 when all members except The Notorious BIG were under 20 years old. With Lil 'Kim there was also a female artist among the rappers.
After The Notorious BIG had their commercial breakthrough with their solo debut album Ready to Die in the same year, the group released their first album Conspiracy in 1995 on the Big Beat Records label. This rose to number 8 in the US charts and received a gold record for more than 500,000 copies sold . The decoupled singles Player’s Anthem and Get Money were also successful and were awarded gold and platinum respectively. As a result of the release, Lil 'Kim was also able to start a solo career.
In 1997, The Notorious BIG, the most important member of the group, was shot, causing Junior MAFIA to disband.
In 2005 the three founding members Lil 'Cease , MC Klepto and Banger teamed up and released the album Riot Musik as Junior MAFIA , which, however, could not build on the earlier success and did not reach the charts. After the equally unsuccessful album Die Anyway , the group broke up in 2007.
