Stripped is Christina Aguilera's third English-language studio album after My Kind Of Christmas and was released on October 28, 2002. It reached the top 5 of the American and English album charts. In Germany the album stayed in the top 10 for 5 weeks. The working title of the CD was lists , but Aguilera changed the name at the last moment.

Controversy

The song Make Over became a controversial issue when critics pointed out its similarity to the 2000 song Overload by the Sugababes . When the album was originally released, Aguilera and Perry were named as the songwriters, but some time later the ASCAP named the Sugababes songwriters Jonathan Lipsey, Felix Howard, Cameron McVey and Paul Simm as co-authors. When the DVD Stripped Live in the UK was released, this title was not included.

Dirrty

For the first time Aguilera showed a more daring image with the music video for the remake of Patti LaBelle's title Lady Marmalade from 1975 . In the video for this track from the musical Moulin Rouge , Aguilera and her partners P! Nk , Mýa and Lil 'Kim were dressed in lingerie .

In August 2002, the video for Dirrty , the first released single, spread on the Internet. It was a hip-hop- influenced song based on Redman 's 2001 single Let's Get Dirty (I Can't Get in da Club) . Redman raps a verse from the title.

The video shows Aguilera dressed provocatively in an improvised underground boxing arena and dancing provocatively. She wears an extremely short mini skirt , which has earned her criticism from fellow musicians and the mass media . In Europe, the video was seen uncensored on most television channels , but in the United States and several Asian countries the video was cut and the more daring scenes removed. In Thailand, the video was not shown as in a scene posters in Thai language on the sex tourism alluded in Thailand. Among other things, the words "Young underage girls" and "Thailand's sex tourism" could be read there. The director of the video, David LaChapelle and the producers later stated that they were not informed of the content of the poster and apologized.
