- 1075 : The army of the rebellious Saxons , consisting mainly of peasants, suffers a defeat against the troops led by King Heinrich IV in the battle of Homburg an der Unstrut .
- 1626 : The city of Hann. Münden is captured by Tilly's troops after days of bombardment during the Thirty Years' War . Most of the residents are being massacred after defenders mockingly refused surrender requests in the days before.
