Cricket World Cup 1983
The 1983 ICC Cricket World Cup , which was held in England from June 9 to 25, 1983 , was the third Cricket World Cup . This World Cup was held in the One-Day International format and was the last one in which each team had one innings over a maximum of 60 overs . In the final, India defeated the team from the West Indies and prevented their third success in a row.

In two preliminary round groups with four teams each, everyone played against each other twice, with a win bringing four points, a tie or no result two points. The first two of this group qualified for the semi-finals, the winners of which played the final. Altogether there were 27 encounters.
