Michael "Zico" Zeyer (born June 9, 1968 in Neresheim ) is a former German soccer player .
Life
The midfield director nicknamed "Zico" is the twin brother of Andreas Zeyer . Zeyer's youth clubs were the SV Auernheim and the Heidenheimer SB . After the stations SSV Ulm 1846 , SC Freiburg and 1. FC Kaiserslautern , he moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim in 1993 in the 2. Bundesliga and became a leading player under coach Valentin Herr . In 1996 he moved to MSV Duisburg and in 1998 to VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer . After a season he returned to MSV, as he no longer played a role in the concept of coach Ralf Rangnick . He stayed in Duisburg for four years and played 119 games. In 2004 Zeyer temporarily ended his career after a season at Fortuna Düsseldorf and promotion to the Regionalliga Nord .
After a short time there was a comeback for the Icelandic club UMF Grindavík , before he played for half a year at his home club Heidenheimer SB in 2006.
In the summer of 2006 he finally ended his career. He then completed a degree in business administration in St. Petersburg . In June 2010 he became sports director at the Stuttgarter Kickers . In April 2011 Michael Zeyer also opened a restaurant in Stuttgart. That is why he ended his work as sports director at Kickers in June 2011. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2012. On September 18, 2013, Zeyer was appointed sports director of the Kickers for the second time. On October 20, 2016, he resigned from his position.
