Salvage of the art property of the University Church Leipzig

When it was decided on May 23, 1968 to demolish the University Church in Leipzig , the employees of the Institute for the Preservation of Monuments were immediately prohibited from entering the church. The responsible employee of the City Council of Leipzig, Dr Hubert Maaß, therefore commissioned the then freelance Peter Findeisen, who was therefore not affected by the ban, to salvage the church's art. He created an inventory in a very short time in order to organize the rescue of the interior fittings. Within a week before the demolition, he and a group of stonemasons succeeded in dismantling and rescuing a large part of the interior of the church.
