Maria Ketikidou (born June 9, 1966 in Hagen ) is a German actress .

life and career

Maria Ketikidou's Greek parents came to Germany in the late 1950s, where she was born in Hagen. Then she lived in Greece until she was three years old, until she came back to Germany with her parents and grew up in Itzehoe in Schleswig-Holstein . At the beginning of their puberty the family moved to Hamburg, where Ketikidou has lived since then. She got into film by applying for a role at the age of 15 after being called on the radio without any prior knowledge. She promptly got the main female role of rock singer Lisa in the Ruhr area film Die Heartbreakers (1982) by Peter F. Bringmann about young beat bands of the 1960s. The film received the Bavarian Film Prize in the Best Newcomer Film category and the German Film Prize in silver. She graduated from high school, studied and actually wanted to be a journalist. She had a brother who was killed in an accident in 1990 and who was a DJ . She also cultivates this passion as a hobby.

This was followed by leading roles in television films such as Alles Paletti (1985), Das Traumauto (1987) and Aufs Jetzt (1988), as well as guest roles in television series such as Adelheid and their murderers or Peter Strohm . She also played in the short film Nachtfahrer (1985) by Sönke Wortmann .

She was best known for her participation in the television series Sterne des Südens and since 1993 in the role of police officer Hariklia "Harry" Möller in the ARD evening series Großstadtrevier . In 2005 Maria Ketikidou was appointed "Bavarian Honorary Commissioner" alongside Jan Fedder . She also made a brief appearance as Hamburg inspector in the 2009 comedy film Soul Kitchen , while Fedder can be seen as a food controller.

After 20 years of partnership, she separated from PR entrepreneur Tom Yamaoka in 2008 .
