action

At the 14th district in Hamburg, people are preparing for Christmas Eve . After Dirk Matthies drives one last assignment, he wants to escape the Christmas hustle and bustle and logs off. He withdraws to his boat and is now happy to have his rest. But he's wrong. A Santa Claus lands on the roof of his ship with a thud and claims to have fallen out of the sleigh. Since there is no other way to get rid of the drunk man, Matthies declares himself ready to help him work off his list. After all, it's Christmas and the children are waiting for their presents. Matthies drives Santa Claus in his car to the deployment sites and recognizes with each of these stations that everything that happens that evening has a connection to him personally. At first it's just a picture on the wall that reminds him of the past. On his next visit he meets Luise, from whom he stole a bottle of perfume when he was sixteen. And suddenly Matthies even found himself in an episode in his life that he thought he had already forgotten: Christmas Eve 1974. Back then he wanted to go to England with his girlfriend, for whom he had stolen the perfume. At the last moment I got "cold feet". Now he unexpectedly meets Kristin again at one of Santa's stations and Matthies realizes that all of this is not a coincidence, but that his personal Santa Claus has really visited him.

In the meantime, the colleagues are still on duty in the station and have to deal with two cases. Thirteen-year-old Emily Teichert is said to be taken into the care of the child and youth emergency services after a case of domestic violence. While the district boss Küppers takes care of the girl, she discovers that Emily was born on the exact day she lost her baby .

Hariklia Möller and Hauke Jessen have to look after a young criminal who does not want to betray his accomplice. When he does, the officers learn that an act of revenge is planned. This happens just when Matthies is with Kristin and so he can prevent his teacher from being shot at. Matthies just says: "Don't think for a second that this was a coincidence."

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv said about this production: “'The Christmas grouch' is told in a pleasantly calm way, basically adapts to the mentality of the hero, who soon loses his stinky posture. [...] A coherent, atmospheric Christmas film - even if the weather (sometimes snow, sometimes no snow) and the numerous locations and subplots hinder a really fluid, atmospheric storytelling. "
