Pierrebraunia eddie-estevesii is a species of the genus Pierrebraunia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet eddie-estevesii honors the co-discoverer Eddie Esteves Pereira .

Between rocks, cylindrical, later columnar, initially upright, later laterally curved, solitary or with a few basal side rungs .; dull green to gray green; Ribs 11-14, running straight vertically downwards; Areoles round, 1.5–3.8 mm in diameter, strongly approximated with age; very white wool in the new shoot and upper shoot section; flowering areoles with fluffy white wool up to 1.5 cm long; 7–11 radial spines, up to 1.3 cm long, straw-colored yellowish, needle-shaped; Central spines 1–4, up to 2.8 cm long, needle-like. The generative phase begins at a growth height of 30–40 cm and a shoot thickness of 4–6 cm. The flowers open at around 6:30 a.m. and close the next morning, pollination by hummingbirds and butterflies. Flowers stir-funnel-shaped, bright rose-red to pink, bare, 5–6 cm long; outer perianth leaves succulent, pink; inner perianth leaves, white-pink; Nectar chamber more or less closed at the top; Stylus white, 4.3 cm long. Fruit spherical, berry-like, up to 3 cm thick, pink-red, pulp pink. Seeds black, 1.8–2.1 mm long, 1.2–1.4 mm wide, apically tuberous, testa with cuticular folds.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Pierrebraunia eddie-estevesii is native to the north of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais . It was first described in 2017 by Pierre Josef Braun .

Pierrebraunia eddie-estevesii is only known from a small habitat with a small number of individuals and should therefore be classified as " critically endangered (CR) " based on the criteria of the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species . H. classified as critically endangered.
