Robert Maus

Robert Maus (born June 9, 1933 in Singen ) is a CDU politician from Baden-Württemberg . From 1973 to 1997 he was district administrator of the district of Konstanz and from 1972 to 1996 a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1953, Robert Maus studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Bonn and Freiburg . In 1957 he passed the first state examination and in 1961 the assessor examination. In 1962 he received his doctorate in law . From 1961 to 1969 he worked in the justice service of the state of Baden-Württemberg as a notary , judge and public prosecutor . During this time he was also seconded to the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court and to the Attorney General .

Political activity

Robert Maus is a member of the CDU. From January 1970 he was mayor of the community of Gottmadingen . In the election for the sixth state parliament of Baden-Württemberg on April 23, 1972, he received the direct mandate in constituency 57 (Singen) , which he held until the end of the eleventh electoral term in 1996. After the district reform of Baden-Württemberg in 1973, the district of Constance had been enlarged considerably, especially by a large part of the communities in the previous district of Stockach , Maus was elected district administrator of the new district. He took office in October 1973 and served for three terms until 1997. He gave up his office as mayor after his election as district administrator.

During Lothar Späth's tenure as prime minister, Maus were assigned opportunities for both the justice and interior ministries in the Baden-Württemberg state government . According to journalists, an incident in 1979 prevented his entry into the state government: On February 21, 1979, the fat Thursday in the carnival , Maus attended a ball at the Singen commercial school. After a carnival diatribe directed at Maus by SPD member and District Councilor Dietmar Johann, Maus gave the young socialist Mike Kuhl two slaps when leaving the event . The incident, which was then dealt with at a special meeting of the district council specially convened by Maus, led to extensive press coverage, some of which was nationwide.

The main focus of his state parliament work was domestic and legal policy. He was chairman of the interior committee from 1979 to 1996. The main focus of his local work as district administrator was business development, the expansion of cross-border cooperation in the Euregio Lake Constance European region and the expansion of the transport infrastructure. The cross-border as Seehas called S-Bahn in the region was significantly promoted by him.

Other memberships, offices and honors

Robert Maus was a member of the association assembly of the Hochrhein-Bodensee region and from 1993 to 1997 president of the Baden-Württemberg district council . He was also chairman of the board of directors of Südwestfunk .

He is a deputy member of the State Court of Baden-Württemberg. He is also chairman of the holding supervisory board of Excelsis Business Technology in Stuttgart.

Since 1991 he has been an honorary senator of the University of Konstanz . On April 25, 1998, he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit . He is a holder of the Baden-Württemberg district medal in gold. For his work in various committees of the savings bank organization , he was awarded the Great Baden-Württemberg Sparkasse Medal in Gold on January 21, 2006 by the Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg .

Family and private

Robert Maus lives in Gottmadingen and is Roman Catholic . He is married and has three children.
