The Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg (SVBW) is the umbrella association of the savings banks in Baden-Württemberg .

Legal basis

The Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg is a public corporation . The legal basis are Sections 35 to 39 of the Savings Banks Act for Baden-Württemberg and the Articles of Association of the Savings Banks Association issued by the association assembly .

The association is based in Stuttgart . Its business premises are located in the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg building at the main train station .

Organization and tasks

Members

Members of the savings bank association are the savings banks in Baden-Württemberg and their owners. Membership is specified in accordance with the Savings Bank Act; it is therefore not possible to leave the association.

Organs of the savings bank association are the association assembly, the association board and the association chairman.

The head of the association represents the association externally. Since May 1, 2006, Peter Schneider has been the head of the association . The association manager Joachim Herrmann is the deputy head of the association . He was previously CEO of the Hohenzollerische Landesbank Kreissparkasse Sigmaringen .

The association assembly consists of the chairman of the board of directors and the chairman of the board of directors of the member savings banks as well as one further member from each member savings bank, the so-called representative.

The association board consists of the association chairman and 24 other members.

The association has set up specialist committees and working groups for certain topics (e.g. working group for chairmen of the board of directors or a committee for marketing and market communication).

Savings Bank Academy in Stuttgart

The Sparkassenverband operates the Baden-Württemberg Sparkasse Academy for advanced training of Sparkasse employees as well as an audit office that is responsible for auditing the annual financial statements of the Baden-Württemberg savings banks and their subsidiaries. Two further departments have been set up to advise the member savings banks on business management and business policy and to represent the interests of the savings banks vis-à-vis political and social institutions (fundamental issues / law / personnel and administration as well as market and operations).

At the end of 2008, the association had a total of 306.1 employees.

Guarantors, memberships and holdings

The association is one of the sponsors of the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg and the Landesbausparkasse Baden-Württemberg . He is a member of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association . He manages the shares of the Baden-Württemberg savings banks in SV SparkassenVersicherung through holding companies . Further noteworthy investments exist in Finanz Informatik , Deutsches Sparkassenverlag and EURO Kartensysteme GmbH .

As of December 31, 2014, there were the following 53 savings banks in Baden-Württemberg with total assets totaling 178.7 billion euros. At the end of 2014, these savings banks employed 35,811 people (2,937 of whom were trainees); they operated 2,003 branches and an additional 370 self-service branches.

history

The Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg was created on January 1, 2001 through the merger of the Württemberg and Badischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband . The first president until April 30, 2006 was the then president of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association Heinrich Haasis . Until the merger, Haasis was President of the Württemberg Savings Banks and Giro Association.
