The SV SparkassenVersicherung Holding AG bundles the insurance offer the savings banks of Baden-Wuerttemberg , Hesse , Thuringia and parts of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is a nationwide building insurer and the third largest public insurance company in Germany. The company is based in Stuttgart , with other locations in Erfurt , Karlsruhe , Kassel , Mannheim and Wiesbaden .

The SV Sparkassenversicherung Holding Group , which takes on strategic management, includes the property and casualty insurers SV Sparkassenversicherung Gebäudeversicherung Aktiengesellschaft and SV Sparkassenversicherung Lebensversicherung Aktiengesellschaft. SV Sparkassenversicherung is part of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe , operates around 400 of its own agencies and also sells its products through the 4,700 branches of the regional savings banks in the business area.
history
The company emerged from the merger of the savings bank insurers in Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Thuringia and parts of Rhineland-Palatinate on January 1, 2004. This was only the last merger in a long company history spanning more than 250 years. Its oldest root, the Badische Gebäudeversicherungsanstalt (Brand-Assecurations-Societät) , was founded in Karlsruhe in 1758 by the then Margrave Karl Friedrich von Baden . 15 years later, the General Fire Damage Insurance Institute was founded by Duke Carl Eugen von Württemberg in Ludwigsburg . Similar to Baden-Württemberg, the historical roots in Hesse and Nassau go back deeply to the Hessian Fire Insurance Institute Kassel (1767), the Hessian Fire Insurance Chamber Darmstadt (1777) and the Nassau Fire Insurance Institute Wiesbaden (1806). In addition to their duties as an insurer, they promoted the development of the fire service in their areas not insignificantly through grants for the acquisition of fire fighting equipment and payment of extinguishing premiums after fires.
The abolition of monopoly and compulsory insurance in the course of the liberalization of the insurance market in 1994 was decisive for the development of today's group. This meant that the state-owned building insurance companies had to be privatized. In both Baden-Württemberg and Hesse , the building insurance companies were merged in several stages and sold to the respective savings bank insurers. The history of property, accident and life insurance of the savings bank insurers goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. There, too, there was initially regional fragmentation. At the end of the 1990s, the opportunity was used to advance the consolidation as a whole, so that in 2000 there was only one savings bank insurer each in Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and Thuringia. In 2004 these savings bank insurers merged to form today's SV Sparkassenversicherung Holding Aktiengesellschaft .

The owners of SV SparkassenVersicherung Holding Aktiengesellschaft are a savings bank holding company consisting of the Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg and the Sparkassen in Baden-Württemberg with 63.3%, the Sparkassen- und Giroverband Hessen-Thüringen with 33% and the Sparkassenverband Rheinland-Pfalz with 3 , 7%. SV Holding holds 99.9% of SV Sparkassenversicherung Lebensversicherung, 98.7% of SV Sparkassenversicherung Gebäudeversicherung and 100% of SV Informatik GmbH.
