The Sparkassenverband Rheinland-Pfalz (SVRP) is the umbrella organization of the savings banks in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Legal basis

The Sparkassenverband Rheinland-Pfalz is a public corporation . The legal basis is Section 25 of the Savings Banks Act for Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as the association statutes issued by the Savings Banks Association .

The association is based in Mainz . Since the beginning of 2020, his business premises have been in the LBS Südwest building on Vorderen Synagogenstraße.

Organization and tasks

Members

Members of the Savings Banks Association are the public-law savings banks that have their headquarters in the association's territory and their owners. Membership is specified in accordance with the Savings Bank Act.

The bodies of the Savings Banks Association are the Association Assembly, the Board of Directors and the Association Chairman (President).

The head of the association represents the association externally. He is the superior of all employees of the association, has direct supervision of the business operations of the association and ensures compliance with the business instructions.

The association assembly consists of the association chairman as chairman, the two deputy association chairmen and the representatives of the association members (for each Sparkasse and its sponsor, these are: the head of the sponsor's administration, the chairman of the Sparkasse's board of directors, and a member of the Sparkasse's administrative board, which is elected by the representative body of the sponsor in consultation with the board of directors).

The Board of Directors may form committees and other bodies from among its members in order to transfer certain matters for which it is responsible for preparation or decision-making.

Internal organization and tasks

The legally assigned tasks of the association are to promote the savings bank system, carry out audits at the member savings banks, train employees of the savings banks and provide expert advice to the supervisory authority. The association also represents the interests of its members in questions of banking policy, banking and regulatory law.

The office of the Sparkassenverband Rheinland-Pfalz consists of three competence centers, two business areas and a staff unit and takes care of the day-to-day business of the association. As part of the office, the Sparkassenverband operates the Rhineland-Palatinate Sparkasse Academy (until December 31, 2019 in Waldthausen Castle near Budenheim ). It is responsible for promoting the professional and technical training and further education as well as the personal development of the employees and trainees of the savings banks and their community facilities. In addition, the association operates an auditing office that is responsible for auditing the annual financial statements of the Rhineland-Palatinate savings banks and their subsidiaries in accordance with the statutory provisions and the regulations of the supervisory authorities.

The association is one of the sponsors of the Landesbausparkasse Südwest . He is a member of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association . He manages the shares of the Rhineland-Palatinate savings banks in SV SparkassenVersicherung through affiliated companies . Further noteworthy investments exist in Finanz Informatik and in Deutscher Sparkassenverlag .
