On September 2, 1835, the savings and loan fund was founded in the Bingen district. The aim of the foundation was to encourage the poor sections of the population to save and at the same time to bypass the usury of credit. The savings and lending bank was taken over by the Bingen district in 1904 and operated as the Bingen district savings bank (Rhein) from then on .
As a result, the Spar- und Hülfskasse Kreuznach (later Stadtsparkasse Bad Kreuznach) was established in the Bad Kreuznach district in 1852, the Meisenheim savings and loan fund in 1872 (from 1907 Kreissparkasse Meisenheim), and in 1878 the savings and loan fund of the Kreuznach zu Sobernheim district (later the Kreissparkasse Kreuznach) and in 1917 the Städtische Sparkasse Kirn was founded. All four institutes merged in 1971 to form Sparkasse Bad Kreuznach .
