history

The DSV was founded in 1935 as a GmbH in Berlin. The first object was the "Sparkassen-Werbedienst", a magazine for Sparkasse employees. In 1938 the German savings bank book was introduced as a standardized savings bank book. In the same year the Sparkassen-S was designed as the publisher's logo.

After the Second World War, the DSV was re-established in Stuttgart in 1949. In 1962 the company headquarters was relocated from downtown Stuttgart to Stuttgart-Vaihingen. The phrase “When it comes to money - Sparkasse”, used by the DSV for the first time this year, becomes the slogan of the Central Community Advertising a year later.

1974 saw the start of the Sparkassen's first World Savings Day campaign with a raffle and the youth magazine Knax , which is one of the highest-circulation comic magazines in Germany. Since the 1980s, the DSV has been offering not only classic publishing products but also solutions for electronic payment transactions , for example for automated cash dispensing across all savings banks. Since 1983 there has been the " stock exchange simulation game " of the savings banks, for which the DSV acts as the stock exchange game center.

As the Payment Competence Center of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, the DSV Group successfully launched the new online payment method paydirekt for the Sparkassen in 2016 - together with the investor partners Landesbank Baden-Württemberg and Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen .
