The forerunners of today's Kreissparkasse Rhein-Hunsrück are the district, savings and loan fund founded on August 1st, 1857 in Simmern and the St. Goar district savings bank founded on August 1st, 1860 in Boppard .
Both institutes merged on January 1, 1975 to form today's Kreissparkasse Rhein-Hunsrück.
