The Savings Banks and Giro Association Hesse-Thuringia (SGVHT) is the umbrella organization of the 49 savings banks in Hesse (33 institutes) and Thuringia (16 institutes) and their municipal sponsors . Its headquarters are in Frankfurt am Main and Erfurt . The SGVHT is one of 12 regional savings and giro associations in Germany. The elected president of the association has been Claus Kaminsky, Lord Mayor of Hanau, since May 4, 2019. The managing president is Gerhard Grandke .
Association organization
Organs of the association are the association assembly, the association board and the executive president. The SGVHT is divided into the areas of business office, examination office and savings bank academy. By taking on higher-level tasks and central functions, he ensures that the savings banks can concentrate on their local business activities.
The SGVHT is 68.85% owner of the Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) with the Landesbausparkasse Hessen-Thüringen (LBS), holds 33.03% of the shares of SV SparkassenVersicherung Holding AG , Stuttgart, and is part of nationwide companies of the Sparkasse organization such as of DekaBank involved. It is also responsible for the regional savings bank support fund and the regional reserve fund.
The Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen, established by the association, is dedicated to charitable purposes. The goals are to promote and support art and culture, monument preservation, home preservation and the idea of home, science and research, nature and environmental protection as well as youth care, elderly care, public health and welfare.
history
The association goes back to the savings bank association founded in 1893 for the administrative region of Cassel. After the founding of the state of Hesse, the association was named Hessischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband. On July 1, 1992, he also took over the management of the Thuringian savings banks and changed its name to what is now the Sparkassen- und Giroverband Hessen-Thüringen.
